FACTS

The college became autonomous in 1987.

However, it continues to be affiliated to the University of Madras.

The college introduced the credit based system of education from the year 1997-98.

In the year 2000, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, an autonomous institution of UGC, accredited Stella Maris College at the Five Star level among the autonomous colleges of India.
The motto of the college is "Truth and Charity".
